Recent studies have revealed that excessive smartphone usage can have a detrimental impact on individuals' focus, concentration, and overall mental well-being. This issue seems particularly prevalent among young Australians aged 18 to 24, but it affects people across age groups. In response to this concern, the art installation "Zenith" was conceived to promote mindfulness about smartphone habits and their implications for cognitive focus. "Zenith" accomplishes this by encouraging audience interaction and monitoring smartphone usage, visualizing pick-up frequency through markings on a spiral disc, and providing a tangible representation of this behaviour. Even if the audience succeeds in maintaining an unbroken spiral, the activity remains valuable as it prompts reflection on the reflexive urge to engage with one's phone. This practice encourages individuals to become more mindful of their impulses and subsequent actions. Understanding one's phone habits is essential for making positive changes, such as reducing phone usage and enhancing concentration, to become a reality. This particular activity offers an opportunity for reflection, facilitating the development of such awareness.
